Due to its location near equator, Chennai experiences hot and humid all the three major seasons – summers, winters and monsoons – of the year. Thankfully, due to its vicinity to the coastal area, it does not experience extreme variations in seasonal temperature.
Chennai is known for its hot summer !! Chennai summer –every morning we groan each morning as the searing heat sores our body and mind .
Its Feb and already I could feel the heat . tempers run high, sweat pours down err at just the though of it !
But also summer heralds in luscious watermelon, juicy mangoes and soothing tender coconut .You cannot hate or love Chennai summer .
Every single student waits all year long for the minutes to inch past, counting down to summer vacation; and two weeks into it they’re bored out of their minds. Not to mention frustrated parents who can’t wait for school/college to begin again.

Following is the tips to keep your self cool this summer :
Dangerously high temperatures can result in heat-related illnesses ranging from heat cramps to heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
- Wear loose – fitting clothes, preferably light colours
- Fill a spray bottle with water and refrigerate it and take it with you while leaving house or you can get ready made face cooling sprays like avene thermal spray, nufeel etc
- Soak your feet in cold water to refresh your hot and tired feet
- Take frequent bath in cold water
- Keep hydrating, drink plenty of fluids
- Store bottle in freezer, grab one when you're ready to go outside. As the ice melts, you'll have a supply of cold water with you.
- Avoid caffeine and alcohol as these will promote dehydration
- Use sunscreen before stepping out of your house
- Avoid hot food and eat lots of fruits
- Use cotton, light colour, lite bed sheets.
- If you get sunburn –apply curd ,milk, apply cider vinegar ,calamine lotion
- For suntan-besan –turmeric pack, honey, tomato, cucumber .
